RE: [Essentially Ours] Heavy Periods
Hi,

I have been working with this pretty much since a teenager. There are many
things that you can look at.

Geranium slows down the blood flow if taken in a capsule. I have used it
 many times.

Recently I have been going and having my psoas muscle released through
trigger points and acupuncture and this has made the biggest difference I
have seen yet. Usually I have 2 -3 heavy days and 4 lighter days. This
month my period only lasted 3 days!! The shortest one I have ever had and I
had very little pain the first day - usually I am in agony and unable to
walk or function the first day even if I took pain killers. If you have a
strong deep pain radiating from one point that is too deep for you to touch
you might want to have it checked out. I was going to the chiropractor for
pain in my pain that never seemed to go away no matter how many times I went
or how much massage I got. The first time I had the psoas muscle released
the pain in my back went away instantly. You may need to go to male massage
therapist as in order to release that muscle the person needs to have really
strong hands. I found to that it needed to be released when I was laying on
 the stomach.

Drinking Red raspberry leaf tea everyday for a week prior to the period has
helped me. Also a calcium/magnesium supplement especially if you crave
chocolate prior to or during your period.

Eating cheese, chocolate, or chicken (even if they are organic) for up to
two days prior or during my period seemed to make my flow very heavy and
cause a lot of cramping. I think others have found this as well because
those foods cause an increase in estrogen. I don't eat soy, but if you do
you could try staying away from it for a week before your period starts.
Eating greens and b12 are important to take.

Oils - Dragon time on your ankles and abdomen. I personally like Orthoease
on my stomach and back followed by peppermint on top of both those areas. I
also found that Melaluca Quiniveria helped (this is in Melrose) Deep Relief
 is also a good choice.
Some people have found that RutaVala works well for them, it did not for me.
I also found Cypress may be a good choice for circulation.

Having a hot bath with 1 cup of Epsom salts and geranium in it.
I also found that the Homepathic remedy - actaea racemose 30ch worked in
 place of pain killers.

Dr. LeAnne has good information that you might want to check out.

Taking the pill or other hormonal birth control makes periods worse.

More information about hormonal Birth control
.	The pill or patch uses a synthetic estrogen and a progestin. When
you are on the pill your body is not actually ovulating it is only
responding to the hormones being taken. Because these hormones stay in our
body longer than the natural ones it creates a higher risk of having too
much estradiol and therefore creating the risk of cancer and infertility.
So the pill is not actually regulating your period because you are not
really having a period. Also the drug is giving your body twice the amount
 that it would normally produce
.	The pill also consists mainly of estradiol without the other
balancing hormones. Effects the immune system.
.	It reduces the amount of B vitamins and folic acid, zinc, manganese,
 vitamin c.
.	It raises the level of vit A, copper and iron

Xenoestrogens - are foreign environmental compounds that come from
petrochemicals (ex. Plastics, head lice treatments, children's chew toys,
cling film food wrap, personal care products, shampoos, pesticides,
herbicides, hormone drugs in cattle.) They are very potent and very toxic
as they can be absorbed through the skin plugging the receptor sites and
negatively affecting our body functions. They are potent even at a
nanogram which is 1/billionth of a gram. They are known to cause breast,
 prostate and testicular cancer.
.	They can also alter the pathways of estradiol causing a conversion
of the bodies healthy estradiol into cancer causing estrogen.
.	It can also reduce or increase the number of receptors in a cell and
 interfere with normal hormone production
.	Buy items in glass whenever possible
.	Do not heat your food in plastics containers - ever. Use glass,
stainless steel porcelain, or ceramic for cooking
.	Avoid Bleached products - coffee filters, tampons, tea bags, toilet
 paper also contain xenoestrogens
 .	Dishwasing, laundry soaps
