The best supplement is manganese - that's not magnesium.  15-30 mg per 
 day. 
 
 A deficiency also leads to muscle ache after exercise as I found out 30 
 years ago while playing softball in an after 50 group.  I used to wake 
 upery Wednesday AM with aching muscles.  I found I was short of 
 manganese, and started taking supplements of it.  Next Wednesday, no 
 aching muscles.
