This recipe this recipe is from when I had my grooming and boarding business and would occasionally have animals come in with fleas etc. I would also use this on the horses during fly season....
For a spray, 10 drops each of Citronella (from Creer Labs), Purification, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint, in a 24 oz. bottle and fill with water, it really does work great!
You can use any size spray bottle the little bottles of Thieves Spray are wonderful and after they are empty I use them for other spray mixtures with just a few drops of oil with distilled water. They are handy for your purse, the bathroom, the car...what oil should you use? Any oil you want! The citrus oils are fabulous! Citrus Fresh is awesome, Peace and Calming....great idea! How many drops? Again there's no wrong answer, how strong do you want it to be? Do need to put in tons? No. Maybe 5 or 6 in an 8 oz spray bottle and more if you want it...Play it's ok. The hot oils like Oregano and Thyme...I don't ever use them in a spray they are for skin application and capsules. Get the Essential Oils Desk Referrence from Essential Science Publishing! It will be a very helpful guide....Abundant Health has a couple that look good too.
