[Essentially Ours] Re: Off Topic, But Very Important
Hello oilers,
While I appreciate the warning not to open something that might contain a virus, I'm not sure I support continuing this thread.
I got about 2 minutes into the video, and had to question the background of whoever might have posted it. Unless it came later, there was no mention of similar warnings re: MySpace and Twitter.
Also, anyone who uses the social networking sites should know to use caution in what they post. The warning about Facebook sharing addresses and phone numbers seemed kind of silly to me...it should go without saying that, as a public website, you have to know that information is out there for all to see!
The legalese/small print is in part written to protect Facebook if they find they need to "sell the business" to another party.
I know I am personally THRILLED to have been able to recently use Facebook to reconnect with classmates from my high school class. These classmates include some highly educated and intelligent folks (including one friend from kindergarten who works at the Smithsonion.
Again, there are so many "warnings" out there that I think we might want to draw the line and keep the warnings closer to our topic.
Of course, that's just my opinion!
