[AlternativeAnswers] Re: Questions about ThreeLac and Coconut OIl
Hi Debra,
I tried ThreeLac years ago for over six months. It didn't do a whole lot for me. However, when I had my father go on it, he instantly had really bad symptoms of candida die-off and it worked well for him.
If I remember correctly, ThreeLac only works on certain strains of candida. I just figured I had one of the strains that it didn't help.
I was never 100% sold on the product anyway. It doesn't actually fix the underlying causes of the candida overgrowth.
Coconut oil, on the other hand, has worked very well for me and my father (he didn't want to take ThreeLac indefinitely)
Most people are afraid to take coconut oil because it's a "dreaded" saturated fat with lots of bad press. Where did all that bad press come from? If you follow the trail, it ends up at the door of the vegetable oil manufacturers. Not exactly an unbiased source!
But there is a lot of data out there saying that coconut oil will wreck your health. Why is that? Because the experiments used hydrogenated coconut oil - trans fats!
So if you buy coconut oil, you need to make sure that it isn't the highly processed, deodorized garbage that is more commonly available. You certainly want to avoid coconut oils made from copra - look for virgin coconut oils that are solid at room temperature and have a light coconut flavor.
I have been getting my coconut oil from tropicaltraditions.
As far as it making you gain weight, it actually boosts thyroid function. Most people lose a little weight when they add it to their diet.
It can also rev up your metabolism because it contains high amounts of MCT's (medium chain triglycerides)
Coconut oil also improves the skin when applied externally and/or taken internally. It will not clog your pores. I also use it occasionally as a hair conditioner.
Consuming only a little bit of fat tends to cause skin problems. One of the benefits of fat is healthy skin and hair. But it has to be the right kind of fat. Most vegetable oils that are touted as healthy are actually anything but.
I only use coconut oil, virgin olive oil, and butter. All are very healthy fats, despite all the bad press.

When I've searched the internet, what I've found are glowing reports on websites that sell ThreeLac and horrible reports on sites that sell a competing product.

So, I'm worried that adding the coconut oil to my diet will not only cause me to gain weight but may make the acne even worse. Has anyone who uses this on a regular basis suffered any negative effects?
