[AlternativeAnswers] Fibroid tumors
It probably sounds strange, but meditation works to get past the pain. I had had bouts of abdomen pain over the years (doctors never figured out a cause) that would keep me doubled-over and sometimes short of breath. If I had to get from point A to point B, standing up straight was much too painful. Then, I read about Buddhist mindfulness and Vipassana Meditation and decided to give it a try for reasons having nothing to do with the pain. However, part of getting past the pain of sitting still for any length of time (the legs can begin to ache), one must separate from the pain, so to speak, and not see it as "my" pain. Shortly after beginning to practice Vipassana, I had another episode of abdomen pain. I'd never taken any pain killers for it; rather, just dealt with it the best I could. But, that time, I decided to meditate, focus on the breath, and see if it would help ease the pain any at all. I was really surprised at how well it worked! During
meditation, the pain was minimized greatly and after the meditation, I was able to continue to focus on the breath enough that the pain was bearable and I could go about daily activities. Don't get me wrong--it doesn't prevent the pain from occurring nor does it erase the pain; rather, it simply makes it easier to deal with. Vipassana doesn't require any particular tools or equipment. All you need is a place to sit and focus on the breath. Focusing on the breath, to the exclusion of other thoughts, however, is a bit more difficult than it sounds and does require some practice.
